It still tells of a disfigured man who hides in the bowels of the Paris Opera House, deeply disturbed by his disfigurement, deeply obsessed with a young chorine, professing he only wants to be loved. But with this cast, he has singers who can act, so the horror, humor and, ugh, yes, romance, emerge. Laurence Connor directs, as he did for the show’s 2015 tour through here. If you’re a Phan, it’s worth seeing with these performers, who sing the score - music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), book by Stilgoe and Webber - impressively.
